Dropbox is by far the most popular cloud storage service online and has millions of users from around the world. A few months back, they launched a two-step verification system thus making it more secure than other online cloud storage services. Dropbox offers 2 GB space for each free account which can be further extended according to their paid plans. Users also have the option to earn some more free space by completing some tasks on Dropbox and inviting their friends to join Dropbox. You can upload your own files and share them safely with your friends with a single click.
Even though it boasts of several useful features, it lacks one important feature i.e. it does not allow users to download any file directly from the web or via direct download link. Users need to first download the file on their system and then upload it manually on Dropbox. This process takes a long time and consumes internet bandwidth as well. Urldroplet.com is a freeware online service that enables you to download any file directly to your Dropbox account without downloading the file locally on your system first. It is the simplest way to download any file from the web directly to your Dropbox account.
To use this service, user first need to get the direct download link of any file. For example, take download.techsmith.com/snagit/enu/snagit.exe and place it into the URL field of Urldroplet.com and click on the Save button. Urldroplet will then redirect you to your Dropbox account so you can authorize Urldroplet to access your account. You need not worry about your account because they only get permission to download the file on your account and nothing else. Once you authorize the Urldroplet app on Dropbox account, your file will be sent into the queue and after some time, it will be downloaded on your Dropbox account. The maximum direct download size supported is 300MB.
As of now, the Urldroplet service is absolutely free but they might start charging customers for this service in the future to earn back the cost of the server they use. The name of the downloaded file in your Dropbox account remains the same as the one you used to save it. However, you can change the name of the download file while placing the download link into the Urldroplet service. You can see your queued file at the bottom of the screen to track its progress.
