If after getting used to FreeFixer and you find it useful, you can donate through PayPal to its development from this tab.

Now, click “Settings.”

Settings

FreeFixer has very few settings to work with to make it as easy as possible for users. Just keep the settings as is for the best results.

Then, click “Tools.”

Tools

FreeFixer offers a handful of tools to help take care of issues that come up when using a computer.

The first tool is the File Nuker. The File Nuker allows you to unlock a file that cannot be deleted. You simply enter the full path to the file, then click “Delete file.”

The Windows System File Checker, another tool FreeFixer offers, allows you to check important protected files on your system. This usually only occurs when a very serious Windows error occurs. FreeFixer allows you to do this on your own any time you feel a problem has occurred that is not being solved by more traditional means.

Now, click “Scanner.”

Scanner

Once back on the main screen, click “Start scan.”

FreeFixer will now begin scanning your system for issues.

Scanning

It will start with scanning the processes.

Scanning

Then, it will move on to scanning your recently created or modified files.

Scan finished

When finished, it will let you review each and every section of issues on your system for you to pick and choose what to correct.

The logs for you to go through will start with the Namespace Service Providers. While you cannot actually fix these issues, it brings them to your attention because they do eat system memory and can cause issues of conflict.

Namespace Service Providers

Next, you will handle the Browser Helper Objects. BHOs are objects that work within your browser. You can click on any of the boxes to remove them, however you want to ensure your browser will not be compromised before doing so.

Then, you will handle the Internet Explorer toolbars. These are items added to IE based on what you install elsewhere on your computer.

Internet Explorer toolbars

Basic Internet Explorer Settings are up next. These are items that have been changed with or without consent, such as your home page.

Registry Startups are the programs and services that run in the background and start upon Windows booting up. Before handling any of these, you want to make sure they are not essential to programs, devices and other areas of your computer working properly.

Registry Startups

Processes are those services, programs and more that run in the background whether they boot up or are opened later down the line. Again, this is an area you want to make sure you know what you are eliminating before doing so or else it can cause programs and services elsewhere not to run correctly.

Processes

Services run in the background and help other programs and components to work.

Services

Svchost.exe Modules are integral components of your operating system, and they should not be tinkered with.

Explorer.exe Modules also should not be tinkered with by most users.

Explorer.exe Modules

Rundll Modules and Application modules can be worked with depending on what they are associated with elsewhere on your computer. This is another advanced module for basic users.

Drivers can often be worked with if a device is not working so you can re-install them and start fresh. Sometimes this can be an easy way to get a device or piece of hardware working again.

Drivers

Csrss.exe’s virtual memory files should be left alone by most users.

The Errors let you know where the system and Windows are failing to find answers between components, hardware and more. While most of these errors may not cause important issues, they are issues that should be addressed when you can narrow down the problem.

Errors

When you are ready to fix the issues you have selected to deal with, click “Fix” to continue.

Confirm delete/repair

A pop-up will appear asking you for permission to delete or repair issues. Click “Delete/Repair” when ready to do so.

FreeFixer may not be for everyone but for those looking for a way to get started fixing computer issues, it is a start.

Is FreeFixer worth your time?

FreeFixer is a program for users learning how to begin taking care of their computer problems. It is not a fix all by any means but it is a start for those weary of giving bigger names a shot, because they look too complicated or too hard to learn right away. FreeFixer is a way to get started, help educate yourself and fix issues that pop up before moving on to the bigger and more thorough tools out there for computer safety and security.
