Cloudfogger is Your Secure Link to the Cloud

Cloudfogger is Your Secure Link to the Cloud

If you’re not using the cloud, you may be living under the rock. The cloud concept lets you store what you do online which makes accessing data quicker and more efficient no matter what type of device you’re using. Depending on what you’re storing in the cloud, you may only be protecting yourself on one level. With Cloudfogger, you can encrypt your data on your computer before it syncs to the cloud.

We’ll show you how to get started with Cloudfogger so you can ensure your data stays safe no matter where you use the cloud.

How to use Cloudfogger

Head on over to Cloudfogger’s web site.

Click “Download.”

Once downloaded, click on the installer.

You can use Cloudfogger in one of two ways: You can create an account to access your encryption codes on multiple devices or you can simply create encryption codes for a single location.

Creating an account is the best way to get the most out of Cloudfogger. For this tutorial, we’ll create an account.

Fill in your account details and click “Next.”

Next, you’ll choose what folder to protect. This will be the folders you sync to the cloud on your computer. Click “Protect another folder.”

Now, choose where that folder is on your computer.

You can add as many folders as necessary to encrypt them before syncing them to the cloud.

Cloudfogger allows you to share the encrypted files and folders you protect over the cloud. You can enter in the people you want to add to this list here.

Click “Next” when finished.

You’re now finished setting up encryption through Cloudfogger.

When you open Cloudfogger next, you’ll be advised of how Cloudfogger is working for you.

Click the “Cloud.”

You can add more folders here down the line after the initial setup.

Now, click the “Chat Bubbles.”

You can add more people to share folders with here.

Click the “Gear” icon.

These are the basic settings for Cloudfogger where you can choose whether to auto-login to the service when you start your computer and whether Cloudfogger should load at startup. You can also check out the logs, clear its cache and open your encryption key file from here.

Finally, click the “Person” icon.

This is where you can logout, change your password and your account name.

Cloudfogger runs in the background so you don’t have to worry about encrypting your own files and folders before you upload them to the cloud.  You will want to refresh your folders and files on your cloud services so that they contain the encrypted versions Cloudfogger provides.

How secure is using Cloudfogger for your cloud needs?

Cloudfogger utilizes a 256bit AES encryption method to protect your files and folders before they sync to the cloud. While cloud services like Google Drive and SkyDrive protect your information, too, Cloudfogger adds an additional level of security to the things you sync. This can add peace of mind, security and confidence in syncing no matter what cloud service you use.
