Until now Viber has been associated with mobiles only, getting tuff competition from rivals like skype and Whatsapp. Now, Viber has said “Hello” to desktop by launching their Desktop app just a couple of hours before.
For taking things to new level, Viber 3.0 is launched today for iOS and Android, along with its Desktop app for both PC and Mac. Looks like Viber is following similar strategies what Skype has done, “Conquering the masses”. Surprisingly Viber’s own statistics shows, the word “Conquering” is correct. There are almost 200 million users of Viber worldwide.
Viber for desktop lets you do everything that it allows you to do in mobile. According to CEO Telmon Macro – “What puts it apart from Skype is how tightly integrated it is with the mobile experience. Skype went from the desktop to the phone. Viber went from mobile to desktop — the implication for the user is amazing”.
Ironically, with its strong cross-platform integration and smooth interface, Viber has taken a big step forward. It’s the most impressive step, as many of us sit in front of computers and typing on 4 inch screen is not always convenient as compared to keyboards.
It’ll be good to see, how people will respond to this new strategy.
